Birth Pool
Kit Hire 

1. Book online
   Select your estimated due date (EDD). Your hire period will automatically begin 2–3 weeks before this date.
2. Make payment
   Payment is required at the time of booking unless prior arrangements have been made.
3. Receive confirmation
   You'll get a confirmation email once your booking and payment are processed.
4. Arrange pool pickup
   About a week before your hire starts (typically 2–3 weeks before your EDD), contact the pool coordinator by email to organise a pickup time. Pickup must be confirmed before collecting the pool.
5. Collect your pool
   Pick up your pool and equipment from the arranged location. You'll also receive instructions and the hire contract by email.
6. Do a trial setup
   Set up the pool ahead of time so you're familiar with how it works. If anything is missing or not working, contact the coordinator by email as soon as possible after pickup.
7. Use the pool for your birth
   Please follow all instructions provided and ensure anyone helping you is familiar with how the pool works.
8. Clean and pack down
   After use, clean, dry, and repack the pool and equipment (excluding the liner), ready for return.
9. Arrange return
   Contact the coordinator by email to organise drop-off as soon as possible after birth (within a few days is ideal). Return must be confirmed before dropping off the pool.
10. Bond refund
    Once the pool is returned and checked, your bond will be refunded if everything is clean, dry, and undamaged. This is usually processed within a few days.

Active Birth Taranaki
Birth Pool Hire Agreement

By hiring a birth pool from Active Birth Taranaki, the hirer agrees that:

• Active Birth Taranaki (ABT) owns the birth pool, hose, air pump and any other accessories, equipment and incidentals supplied with the pool.
• The hirer will pay:
  • The hire fee and bond which must be paid within 72 hours unless a prior arrangement has been made with the birth pool coordinator.
  • Any cost associated with repair or replacement of the birth pool and accessories/equipment due to damage incurred during hire and/or whilst the pool and supplied accessories/equipment is in the hirer's care/possession that is in excess of the bond (in which case the bond will not be refunded).
  • Any cost associated with cleaning of the birth pool and accessories/equipment due to contamination during hire and/or whilst the pool and supplied accessories/equipment is in the hirer's care/possession or due to insufficient cleaning before returning the pool that is in excess of the bond (in which case the bond will not be refunded).
• It is important that this single-use birth pool liner is used at all times. This liner is the hirers to keep and dispose of.
• If the single-use birth pool liner is not used, the bond will not be refunded (due to extra cleaning required) and any additional cleaning costs incurred must be paid by the hirer (see 2.c.).
• The cost is $145 hire fee for the inflatable birth pool plus kit, $50.00 refundable bond plus $55.00 a single-use birth pool liner – Total $250.
• No refund of the hire fee can be given if the pool is not used unless you birth before 37 weeks. If this is the case please inform us of this as soon as you are able as we may have someone on the wait list we can rehire to.
• The bond, hire fee and single-use birth pool liner cost shall be paid to Active Birth Taranaki, bank account no. 15-3948-0083481-000. Your name must be used as the reference when making the deposit/transfer.
• The hire period is four weeks from the agreed collection date, regardless of whether collection begins at 37 or 38 weeks gestation.
• The birth pool and supplied accessories/equipment will be collected from the birth pool coordinator by arrangement.
• It is important that the supplied instructions on the use and care of the birth pool and accessories/equipment are followed at all times. Any and all people who use the pool or help with its use must also follow these instructions.
• Failure to follow instructions can cause damage to the pool and/or equipment and will result in loss of bond and additional cost if over and above the value of the bond.
• It is the hirer's responsibility to ensure that everyone who handles the pool whether that's setting the pool up, filling the pool or using it, reads the instructions! This includes partners, doulas, birth support people, family, etc.
• The birth pool and supplied accessories/equipment (but not the single-use birth pool liner) will be returned to the pool coordinator ASAP and at most within 7 days after birth.
• ABT reserves the right to request return of the birth pool and accessories/equipment sooner than 7 days after birth in times of high demand to ensure availability to all hirers.
• The birth pool and all accessories/equipment supplied (except the single-use birth pool liner) must be well cleaned and well dried as according to the supplied cleaning instructions, and returned in the tidy manner in which they were collected. If the pool is returned unclean, the bond cannot be refunded due to the extra costs required in cleaning.
• Upon return of the undamaged, cleaned and dried birth pool and accessories/equipment (but not the single-use birth pool liner) ABT will refund the bond to the hirers nominated bank account.
• If any contamination or damage has occurred where the cost of cleaning, repair or replacement is in excess of the bond, the hirer shall pay the difference within a timely manner.
• Usage of the pool is at the sole discretion and responsibility of the hirer.
• The hirer is responsible for performing a full test run in their home to ensure everything is in good working order, prior to labour itself. While every care is taken to check between hires, ABT cannot guarantee that every component is suitable for the hirer's home setup. Active Birth Taranaki, is not responsible for providing supplementary equipment. In the event that the hirer finds anything damaged or missing, the hirer must contact the coordinator within 72 hours of pool pickup to notify them and allow appropriate opportunity for Active Birth Taranaki to provide a remedy. Reports of missing or faulty pieces retroactively/post labour cannot be acknowledged.
• Active Birth Taranaki checks equipment and for punctures or air leaks after every use. Inflating the pool days or weeks prior to labour, will require top-ups of air. If the hirer chooses to display the pool in the lead up to labour, they are responsible for any damage incurred from other family members or pets.
• The hirer must store all components safely, where they cannot be tampered with.
• Active Birth Taranaki is run by volunteers and as such, while the utmost care is taken, ABT volunteers (including the birth pool coordinator) will not be held personally accountable for anything amiss with the birth pool and/or accessories/equipment. Should the hirer find anything missing, dirty, damaged or amiss upon receipt of the birth pool and accessories/equipment, the hirer shall contact the birth pool coordinator ASAP to discuss the situation.
• Active Birth Taranaki will maintain the confidentiality of the hirer at all times.
